American Idol Winner 2022 is 20-year-old Noah Thompson of Louisa, Kentucky.
The construction worker had no previous musical training or performance experience.
He sang in a powerful duet with Melissa Etheridge and covered Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire".
Thompson was pushed to try out for "Idol" by a co-worker. Since his first audition in front of
judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, it's been quite a journey.
Noah overcame self-doubt, extreme nervousness and COVID-19. Noah dedicated his
song "You've Got a Friend in Me" to his friend Arthur Johnson. His homecoming was filmed
filmed by "American Idol" producers for the segment that appeared in Sunday's episode.
"My heart is beating out of my chest," said Thompson after winning the finale.
