Phillies Bryce Harper Broken Thumb Update
Bryce Harper, the outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies and the current NL MVP,
fractured his left thumb on Saturday night during a game against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park
(GameTracker). Harper was forced out of the game after taking a 97 mph fastball from Blake Snell to the hand.
Soon after, the Phillies disclosed the fracture and said Harper would go through more testing in the coming days.
Harper appeared to tell Snell as he went off the field that he knows he didn't hit him on purpose,
after Snell apologized. On Sunday, the Phillies formally placed Harper on the 10-day disabled list.
Mickey Moniak, an outfielder for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, will take his place on the roster.
