Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Justin Bieber Paralyzed

Justin Bieber recently announced that he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome,

a disorder caused by a virus that destroys the facial nerves, causing his face to be partially paralyzed.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome can occur when a person develops shingles and the virus infects nerve endings

too near to an ear, according to the Mayo Clinic. The paralysis, according to the 28-year-old musician,

is what forced him to postpone a set of concerts in Toronto a few days ago, as well as a

planned show in Washington, D.C. on Friday. Bieber's diagnosis comes after his wife,

Hailey Bieber, was sent to the hospital with a blood clot after having stroke-like symptoms. The

symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome are usually transitory, but they might become permanent if left untreated or undetected.
